About Brownfields
Brownfields are any former or current commercial or industrial site that is currently vacant or underutilized and on which there has been, or there is suspected to be, a discharge of contaminant.

Brownfield projects help create jobs and new economic opportunities by restoring key business sites to productive use through incentives that make redevelopment affordable. New Jersey’s Brownfield infrastructure combines the expertise of various agencies including Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Commerce Commission, and the Economic Development Authority (EDA).

Brownfields Site Mart is designed to make it easier for developers to locate and build on land in cities and towns, while preserving the state's dwindling inventory of open space.
