In addition to enforcing the general CDC privacy policy governing the
collection of personal information through the Internet, CDC has developed a
privacy policy specifically for the Adult and MCH SAMMEC application.
The SAMMEC privacy policy governs the following three features of the Internet
application:
-
User login requirement
-
Storage of user-supplied data
-
Use of optional user E-mail and contact information
User login requirement
To access SAMMEC, you are required to select a user ID and password. To maintain
security, CDC encrypts the password and stores it securely.
Storage of user-supplied data
The login feature allows you to store and retrieve data. This will allow you to
conduct data analyses more efficiently by simplifying the data entry and
editing process. The data you enter will be stored at CDC. However, ownership
of user-supplied data remains with the user. CDC does not own user-supplied
data. In addition, while we make reasonable efforts to maintain the
confidentiality of these data, CDC cannot guarantee the security of the data.
Consequently, please refrain from entering information that could lead to the
identification of individuals.
Use of optional E-mail and contact information
The registration page includes both required and optional information. The
E-mail address, first name, and last name are optional. Electing not to provide
optional information will not inhibit your ability to conduct analyses and
store data. If you provide an E-mail address, you will be able to obtain your
password if it is lost or forgotten. Otherwise, you will be required to
register again, and previously loaded data will not be accessible.
