Real Estate License Transfers/Terminations Online

It is with great pleasure that the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance announces the implementation of a new online capability for the processing of Real Estate Salesperson and Real Estate Broker-Salesperson transfers and terminations. More

Real Estate transfers are performed to allow a Broker of Record (RB) or Employing Broker (EB) to transfer a licensee from one business entity to another. A business entity is a Corporation (CO), Partnership (PA), Employing Broker (EB), Limited Liability Company or Limited Liability Partnership. A licensee can be a Salesperson (SP) or Broker/Salesperson (SB).

Real Estate terminations allow a Broker of Record (RB) or Employing Broker (EB) to terminate (inactivate) a Salesperson or Broker-Salesperson currently employed with their company.

Please Note:
  • Real Estate Licensing recommends printing these instructions for use as a reference guide when completing one-time registrations for a myNewJersey Account and other online services
  • All terminations/transfers must be completed by an active Broker of Record (RB) or Employing Broker (EB)
  • A Broker of Record (RB)/Employing Broker (EB) cannot terminate themselves
  • Only Saleperson (SP) or Broker-Salesperson (SB) license types can be transferred or terminated online
  • Online transfers are not allowed unless the license of a Salesperson (SP) or Broker-Salesperson (SB) has been terminated (inactivated) by their current Broker of Record (RB) or Employing Broker (EB)
  • Changes may be viewed by accessing the NJDOBI Licensee Search the day following the completion of any online transfers or terminations
