FMS Organization: Payment Management

Who are we?

Payment Management (PM) is one of the six major sub-divisions in FMS.

Organizations

Its primary mission is to manage and operate advanced financial payment systems and disburse approximately 85% of all federal payments.

What do we do?

PM headquarters (in Washington, DC) directs and oversees payment services for non-Department of Defense and non-Postal agencies in the Executive Branch of the federal government. PM Field Offices disburse over 964 million federal payments, including Social Security and tax refunds, with a total value of well over $1 trillion. PM is also responsible for check claims aftermath activities. PM headquarters and field sites maintain many important business relationships with other federal agencies and the financial sector. PM is also assisting with the implementation of the Treasury Offset Program, which helps collect billions of dollars of debt, owed to the federal government.
