New Feature - Email Scheduler
December 15, 2008
A new feature of CIMIS, called the Email Scheduler, enables users to receive CIMIS data automatically via email. Although some users already download CIMIS data automatically (via FTP or the Web), the vast majority get their data by manually retrieving it from CIMIS website. The Email Scheduler is a quick and convenient method for getting this same CIMIS data. The Email Scheduler is accessed on the CIMIS website, where users fill in a form specifying the desired CIMIS information and it will be delivered automatically to the requested email address.
Non-ideal site study update
December 15, 2008
CIMIS (DWR) and CUWCC are studying how best to use data from stations located at non-ideal sites, that is, where the station is located on surfaces other than grass. The ability to use data from a non-ideal site is very useful in urban areas, where ideal locations are difficult to find and where CIMIS data is increasingly being used. The data from the non-ideal site is compared to data from a nearby standard site. Trends show a complex pattern of variations between the standard stations and the non-ideal stations. Methods for correcting the variation between the two sets of data are being studied. Currently there are nine fully functional non-ideal stations with another six scheduled to come on line in the next several months. We are seeking new cooperators willing to host a site for a non-ideal station. If you are interested, please contact Cayle Little at (916) 651-7218, CLittle@water.ca.gov or Kent Frame at (916) 651-7030, kframe@water.ca.gov.

CIMIS Data Base going offline 7-26-08
July 24, 2008
The Cimis data base is being upgraded to a newer and faster server and will be going off line for one day, July 24, 2008. We regret the inconvenience this may cause. We are in the process of upgrading the CIMIS system including the addition of some new applications to make the system faster and easier to use.
New CIMIS Web Site
February 17, 2004
OWUE is announcing the unveiling of the new CIMIS website. This new system adds several new features and ADA compliance. With easier data access, more information, and new features to enhance browsing, the user will find visiting the CIMIS web site a more enjoyable experience. Check out the new feature "My CIMIS". Here the user can personalize their own page.
My CIMIS
November 26, 2003
The current upgrade of the CIMIS web site has added very important features. Users can now retrieve the CIMIS data by clicking either on the Data tab or the My CIMIS tab. The first approach is similar to the older version of the CIMIS web site and involves several steps to generate a report. The second approach, however, is a new development designed to make the data retrieval process easier. It involves initial set up of station lists, report types, and preferences. Once the My CIMIS features are all set up, users can generate data with a single-click. This is very important feature for those who download the CIMIS data frequently.
