This program provides information to clinicians to increase awareness
of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and reinforce concepts
of early recognition, diagnosis, and containment.

Goal
To provide the clinical and public health communities updated
information regarding SARS and guidance to increase clinical preparedness.
Objectives
After viewing this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe key strategies for early clinical recognition
and management of patients with SARS.
- Determine appropriate clinical and
laboratory diagnostic tests for SARS.
- Articulate patient education messages
regarding infection prevention and control.

Clinicians, including emergency medicine physicians,
primary care physicians, infectious disease specialists,
healthcare epidemiologists, infection control professionals,
and other healthcare providers, and public health advisors
to the clinical community

Registration and Continuing Education Credit Information
Participants are encouraged but not required to register
and evaluate the broadcast/webcast. Registration and evaluation
will provide valuable feedback to CDC.
Continuing education credit will
be offered for a variety of professions,
based on 1 hour of instruction.
A certificate of credit or a certificate
of attendance will be awarded to
participants who complete the evaluation.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by
the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this
educational activity for maximum of 1.0 category 1 credits toward the
AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those
credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.
This activity for 1.2 contact hours is provided by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, which is accredited as a provider of continuing education
in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditations.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a designated provider
of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the
National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program
is a designated event for the CHES to receive 1.0 Category I contact hours
in health education, CDC provider number GA0082.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been approved
as an Authorized Provider of continuing education and training programs
by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training
and awards 0.1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
