There
are four data and information divisions within NODC:
- Marine Data Stewardship Division
The Marine Data Stewardship Division
participates in the acquisition of global oceanographic data. The division processes data, ingests it into databases,
develops derived products, and maintains the official NODC archive. Here you will find
coral
reef data, coastal water temperatures,
satellite oceanography, ARGO data, and the Ocean Archive System.
- Ocean
Climate Laboratory
The Ocean Climate Lab builds and distributes scientifically, quality
controlled global oceanographic databases. Here you will find World
Ocean Atlas and World Ocean Database
products, as well as the International
Ocean Atlas Series. To facilitate international data exchange,
the Ocean Climate Lab also operates the World
Data Center for Oceanography, Silver Spring, MD.
- National
Coastal Data Development Center
NODC's National Coastal Data Development Center works closely with Federal, State
and local agencies, academic institutions, non-profit organizations
and the private sector to create a unified, long-term database of
coastal data sets. Here you will find the Harmful Algal Bloom Observing System, C-SIDE Gulf Coast Storm Information Center, the Coastal Risk Atlas, and more.
- NOAA
Central Library
NODC's Library & Information Services Division [aka, the NOAA Central Library] provides information services to all of NOAA including
the NOAALINC Catalog, E-journals, photo
library, historical maps & charts, and more.
