NEPA Quarterly Reports
Four times a year, the Kootenai publishes a quarterly Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) which provides project information, status, and contacts. These documents are available in Adobe® PDF format which requires the free viewer.
Planning
Forest Plan Monitoring Reports
The 1987 Forest Plan requires that a Monitoring and Evaluation Report be completed each year. The purpose of this report is to determine how the Kootenai is doing in meeting the goals outlined in the Forest Plan. These documents are available in Adobe® PDF format which requires the free viewer.
Lands Reports
The is the Kootenai National Forest Residential Access Policy, Effective March 17, 2003. This policy provides direction of granting access across National Forest System lands within the Kootenai National Forest. This document is available in Adobe® PDF format which requires the free viewer.

Soil Survey of Kootenai National Forest Area, Montana and Idaho
Authors: Louis J. Kuennen and Marci L. Nielsen-Gerhardt. Issued September 1995
This soil survey was made by the Forest Service and the Natural Resources Conservation Service in cooperation with the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station. The survey area covers the extreme northwestern part of Montana, along with a small part of northern Idaho. It includes all of the Kootenai National Forest and the eastern part of the Kaniksu National Forest, which is administered by the Kootenai National Forest. The total area of the survey is 2,975,597 acres and includes the Clark Fork and Kootenai River drainages. The document is 242 pages in length, including topographic soil survey maps.
