Global Positioning Systems
Government GPS Sites:
- National Park Service GPS Site
This site contains quite a bit of background information and a number of good
links to technical GPS information. There is a history of GPS, a good semi-technical
description of GPS, links to base station information and UTM zone maps, government
contacts and various tools and training information.
- U.S. Forest Service GPS Home
Page
This site contains a great deal of practical background information. The report
on "GPS to GIS - the Complete Guide" is particularly comprehensive
but the 'GPS Myths' and 'Data Transformation' reports also contain good information.
- U.S. Coast Guard GPS
information (Navigation Center)
The Coast Guard Navigation Center (NAVCEN) serves as the civilian interface
to the Department of Defense on GPS operations and management. There is a
tremendous amount of technical information at this site.
- Global Positioning System (GPS)
U.S.
space-based radionavigation system, developed by National Space-Based Positioning,
Navigation, and Timing Coordination Office and hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard
Navigation Center.
- USGS Biological Resources
GPS Site
This site maintains DOI GPS items including information on the PLGR military
GPS units.
- Department of Defense
NAVSTAR Global Positioning Systems
This is a military site with some information on the GPS satellite system.
