About the Program

The Louisville VAMC has a medium-sized funded R&D program, including studies in surgical sepsis, heart disease, liver disease, and cancer. Other areas of research include Neuropsychiatry, Endocrinology, Vision, and Infectious Diseases. Currently in FY08, there are 38 active Principal Investigators and approximately 83 active projects.  The Human Research Protection Program has been reviewed by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) and is currently awaiting an accreditation decision.
