Environmental Analyses
National Environmental Policy Act
NEPA provides direction for analyzing
environmental effects for proposed
actions. The Forest Service Manual
and Handbook provide additional direction.
SOPA REPORTS (Schedule of Proposed
Actions)
The SOPA provides information on activities
being proposed by the Klamath National
Forest, the planning status, and who
to contact for more specific information
so you may participate. To be included
on the mailing list for a particular
project, you must notify the project
contact for that project.
The SOPA has a new look, as the format is being
standardized for all
National Forests in the nation as part
of an initiative to improve Web
delivery of government information. The
SOPA is updated four times a year
in early January, April, July, and October.
When a planning activity such as scoping
or completing a decision are projected
to occur within a given month, the estimated
date shows as the first day of the month
for that project. Some
types of actions are ongoing with projects
being generated and completed throughout
the year as the need arises; these are
indicated with "ongoing" in
the description, and a scoping start
date of 10/01/2003. Because the SOPA
is electronically generated, Ukonom District
is once again included on the Klamath
National Forest SOPA, although it is
still being administered by the Six Rivers
National Forest.
For general information or if you wish
to be added or removed from the SOPA
mailing list, please contact Lynda
Karns at (530) 841-4469. Thank you
for your interest in the Klamath
National Forest.
