About the Program
The Extended Care and Rehabilitation Program at the James H. Quillen VAMC Mountain Home is composed of three areas —
- Nursing Home Care Unit (NHCU)
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Home and Community Care
Health Services Offered
Nursing Home Care Unit (NHCU)
The NHCU is a 120 bed facility located on the grounds of the medical center. Patients are admitted for a short stay or a long stay. Short stays includes rehabilitation, restorative therapy, skilled nursing. Long term stays include skilled nursing and long term health maintenance.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
PM&R services include —
- occupational therapy
- physical therapy
- speech therapy
- kinesiotherapy
- specialized services to veterans in need of rehabilitation following amputation and stroke
Our PM&R services are available in the NHCU - but also has hospital components.
Home and Community Care (HCC)
HCC consists of programs that manage care in veterans homes and community settings. Services include —
- home telehealth care / care coordination
- adult day health care
- community nursing home care
- skilled and unskilled home care
- home hospice care
- home IV therapy
