Blue Line
The Department of Education hosted the Eager to Learn: Educating our Preschoolers Early Childhood Summit in Washington, DC on June 23-34, 2000. The invitational summit gathered over 500 early childhood education leaders from across the country to focus on the urgent need to ensure that all young children have positive experiences and opportunities that will best prepare them to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
The Summit was based on the National Research Council's forthcoming report, "Eager to Learn: Educating our Preschoolers." The Summit convened experts from many disciplines, including a number of report committee members, who participated in dialogues on the principal research findings that will be released with the report.
