Could you please send me information about how to join your organization and how to order publications?

The Early Childhood Institute is part of the U.S. Department of Education and therefore is not a membership based organization. All of our publications can be download from this web site at Publications. Publications are also available in print, free of charge, and can be ordered from EDPubs.

I am interested in starting a childcare center. Do you have funds available to assist me?

The Institute's mission is to fund research and disseminate research findings. We do not provide start-up funds for childcare centers. The Childcare Bureau at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides information on this topic.

I would like information about how I can best prepare my child for kindergarten?

The Institute funds the National Center on Early Development and Learning (NCEDL) at the University of North Carolina where research is currently being done on this topic. We also have several publications for parents that are available on this web site or in print form from EDPubs

I am interested in funding opportunities for early childhood research. What resources does your organization provide?

Research opportunities vary during the fiscal year. This is an updated list of all current OERI Funding Opportunities

I am looking for scholarship information for my child to attend childcare?

The Institute's mission is to fund research and disseminate research findings. We do not provide scholarship funds of any kind. The Child Care Bureau at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has information regarding affordable child care.

My organization is interested in linking to your site and would like to be listed on the Institute's site? How can I do this?

The Institute does not endorse commercial products. Valid early childhood research may be posted on this site, but must be reviewed by an editorial board and may be posted with a disclaimer.

I am interested in taking classes focusing on early childhood education. Do you offer any type of professional development?

The Institute does not offer any type of classroom opportunities. The Council for Professional Recognition publishes a national directory of early childhood teacher preparation institutions. Also, check with your local universities and colleges.

Where could I learn more about research on the effects of television on young children?

Two recent studies provide information on this topic one relates to Between the Lions another relates to Dragon Tales. For more information you might want to check out the PBS Kids web site.
