Forest Service Announces Selection of Contractor
and Location for Human Resources Center
ALBUQUERQUE, August 12 – The USDA Forest Service announced
today the selection of Masthead Land Partners, LLC as the contractor
for the lease and construction of a human resources(HR) facility.
This facility will be part of the Albuquerque Service Center which
consolidates budget and finance, information technology and human
resources management for the Forest Service nationwide.
Masthead Land Partners, LLC based in Albuquerque will build
a three story building at 4500 Masthead NE in the Journal Center.
The center, referred to as the Albuquerque Service Center
Human Resources, will occupy 55,400 square feet and the lease
is for 10 years with two 5 year renewal options. The building
will accommodate 225 employees and the estimated occupancy
date for this facility is April 6, 2006.
“We are pleased that a contractor and location has been
selected that will the meet the needs for the new human resources
facility. It will be built with state-of-art communications,
which is essential for providing services nationwide,” said
Harv Forsgren, Regional Forester of the Southwestern Region. “A
single center, unifying all human resources operations, will
provide consistent and cost effective service for our employees
and managers. In addition, these services will be provided at
a lower cost to taxpayers.”
In October of 2004 the Forest Service announced that it would
centralize its HR functions at a single location in Albuquerque
for an anticipated savings of $20 million a year. Consolidation
of the HR services in one site is part of the agency’s
effort to become more efficient in providing services nationwide
and is part of the President’s Management Agenda.
