Radioactive Air EmissionsThe Radioactive Air Emissions Program evaluates laboratory operations which vent radioactive material emissions to the environment through a stack, in order to determine impacts on the public and the environment. If this evaluation shows that emissions from a stack may potentially result in a member of the public receiving 0.1 mrem or more in a year, the stack must be sampled in accordance with 40 CFR 61, Subpart H, "National Emission Standards for Emissions of Radionuclides Other than Radon from Department of Energy Facilities" (EPA 1989). A full program description is available on the Rad-NESHAP page. RequirementsRegulatory Requirements and InterpretationThe Quality Assurance Project Plan for Rad-NESHAP identifies regulatory requirements and LANL's program to comply. Additional documents written by EPA or EPA and DOE provide interpretations of the EPA regulations as they apply to DOE facilities. Historical EmissionsThese tables present the emissions from monitored stacks for the years 1996 to last year. |
