Local ReleaseThis page has been reformatted to list the LP Spectrometer data for different portions of the LP mission as shown in the table below:
As before, the files included here have the following formats: Common Data Format (CDF), Interactive Data Language (IDL), PDF, MS Word, and ASCII text format. Use your browser's "SAVE LINK AS ..." function to download the data files (this function is often found when you right click on a link).
General Description of Data and/or Documentation The GRS Level 1 data contains count rate data for the thorium (2.61 MeV), potassium (1.46 MeV) gamma-ray lines and averaged GRS spectra. The count rates are binned in equal area pixels that have a size of 5x5 degrees at the lunar equator.
The GRS thorium data contains absolute thorium abundances for both the high- and low-altitude data as described by [Lawrence et al., GRL, Vol. 26, 2681, 1999 and Lawrence et al., JGR, Vol. 105, #E8, 20307, 2000]. These data are binned in equal area pixels that have a size of 2x2 degrees at the lunar equator. The NS Level 1 data contains count rate data for the epithermal and thermal neutrons. The count rates are binned in equal area pixels that have a size of 5x5 degrees at the lunar equator. The APS Level 1 data contains time series data of APS count rates for the entire mission. Inferred samarium abundances from an analysis of LP NS, GRS, and Clementine spectral reflectance data as described by Elphic et al., J. Geophys. Res.,, Vol. 105, #E8, 20333, 2000. The documentation and programs contain information which describe how the data were processed and IDL routines which can be used to read the data.
