National Nurse Leadership Council Lifetime Achievement Award Presented to PIMC Nurse
February 8, 2006- The 2006 NNLC Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Capt. Judith A. Whitecrane,
as part of the award banquet during the Annual Meeting of the National Combined Councils held
January 30, 2006, in Phoenix, Arizona. Capt. Judith Whitecrane is a member of the Phoenix Indian
Medical Center provider staff where she is responsible for maintaining the
hospital’s level II Obstetrical certification as the PIMC Coordinator
and Liaison to Arizona Perinatal Trust.
Her most recent accomplishments as the Chairperson of the Obstetrical task
force have been significant improvements to the Labor Delivery Unit with creation
of routine drills for all emergency obstetrical scenarios, instituting
on-going provider and nursing CME on all areas of high risk obstetrical knowledge
to improve overall competence and level of care, and remodeling of the obstetrical triage area to create a HIPAA compliant
unit and allow safer and more patient confidential treatment areas.
Additionally, she is the first non physician Vice-President of Medical Staff, the original author
of the Prenatal Questionnaire used through out the Indian Health Service,
Tribal and Urban Centers, one of two individuals responsible for the national
Public Health Nursing Teen pregnancy program, and she serves on the National Nurse
Leadership Council as one of two Advance Practice Nurse Consultants.
Capt. Judith Whitecrane will continue to impact the future of nursing throughout Indian Country as she is
a true role model for nursing and advanced practice nursing.
