191 million acres of National Forest System Lands and an additional
20 million acres of State and private lands. We provide premier
leadership in wildland fire management, operations, research,
and advanced aviation
technologies.

is "To benefit people by helping manage their trees and
forested landscapes through expert advice, innovative technology,
and financial assistance."
OFFICE
OF TRIBAL RELATIONS is charged with fully implementing
Forest Service tribal relations policies and continuing to
build long-term, collaborative working partnerships with Indian
Tribes.
SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT coordinates the Forest Service's leadership
responsibilities for sustainable forest and resource management
through extensive multi-stakeholder collaboration and integrated
actions with Federal and external partners.

FOREST
HEALTH PROTECTION is primarily responsibile for minimizing
the spread of established
invasive species and lessening the damages caused by native
insects and diseases. We protect and improve America’s
forests using cutting-edge technology to rapidly respond
to forest health threats.
COOPERATIVE
FORESTRY helps people care for the land and their communities.
We provide financial and technical assistance to landowners,
communities, and businesses.
CONSERVATION
EDUCATION is designed to improve our communication with
the larger communities of educators and the general public.
Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl, and Junior Forest Ranger, as part
of the National Symbols program,
is our responsibility.
URBAN
& COMMUNITY FORESTRY promotes the creation of healthier,
more livable urban environments across the Nation. We maintain,
restore, and improve the health of urban trees, forests, greenspaces
and sustainable forest ecosystems.
