DOI Supports Our Troops
Since its inception in the spring of 2003, the Department's Support our Troops initiative has continued to have an active role in providing support for the soldiers and their families in the 'adopted' units of the 101st Infantry Division and the 10th Mountain Division. The Department has held a number of voluntary collections which have been extremely successful and greatly received by our men and women overseas and their families back home. Click on the link below to read a letter from an anonymous soldier thanking everyone for the support. Over the coming months, our on-going assistance is needed in what will continue to be a difficult time for those deployed in the Middle East.
And now closer to home, we continue our show of support for our troops by lending assistance to our brave men and women in uniform who are in recovery at Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Naval Hospital.
Initiatives for hosting activities, providing meals for a group or outing, and the ever-present need for long distance telephone calling cards are easy and fun, and with just a bit of office organization and use of the attached contact information can be accomplished at the grassroots level. Please get involved and set something up today. Interior Department personnel have hosted these deeply appreciative troops and their families at various Department parks and facilities in the greater Washington, DC area. Your call and contribution of time, money or talent will be richly rewarded in the response from these troops and their loved ones. Thank you for continuing to be involved.
