Summary

Postdoctoral position in physical inorganic chemistry/redox catalysis. The Physical Chemistry and Spectroscopy (PCS) group is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to support our effort in development of new type of photocatalytic nano-materials. Areas of chemistry that will be addressed in this project include, organometallic synthesis, investigation of mechanisms of catalytic redox processes, surface chemistry and device development: The postdoctoral researcher will work within a multidisciplinary team at Los Alamos and collaborate with other university research groups.

Desired Skills

The candidate should have background in one or more of the following areas: Synthesis of polypyridine transition metal complexes of Ru(II), Os(II), Co(II), Ir(I) or similar, familiarity with studies of mechanisms of catalytic redox reactions (stopped-flow kinetics, product analysis), protonation/deprotonation equilibria and surface chemistry. The candidate should be familiar standard characterization methods, such as NMR, GC-MS, UVVIS. Experience with device development is a plus. US citizenship preferred, but not required.

Education

A Ph.D. in chemistry or related field completed within last five years or soon to be completed is required.
