Public Health Education Department

  • Counsels patients one-on-one about Tobacco Cessation and recommends nicotine patches to help them quit gradually.
  • Works with other agencies to bring training to hospital staff and offer Continuing Medical Education (CME).
  • Serves as liaison between patients and hospital staff when a patient files a complaint.  Conducts fact-finding investigations to respond to patients with findings.  Maintains a record of patient complaints on Excel.   Recommends solutions to complaints. 
  • Develops and presents information on prevention of health issues at workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
  • Conducts Walking contests/programs for patients and hospital staff.
  • Works with a variety of agencies to bring the American Indian Elders Conference to Oklahoma .  Has served as Chair for this conference since 2003. 
  • Serves on two HIV/AIDS Coalitions: Oklahoma Native Nations United Against AIDS located in Anadarko and Oklahoma Native American AIDS Coalition located in Oklahoma City.
  • Gives presentations and sets up information booths at various events in relations HIV/AIDS.
