U.S. Marshals Service Task Forces End 7 Year
Run of Shelby County Fugitive Wanted for Child Rape
On Monday, April 30,
2007, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Detroit Fugitive
Apprehension Team (DFAT) arrested Lonzo Lenear after receiving a
lead from the U.S. Marshals Service Mid South Fugitive Task Force (MSFTF).
Lenear had been living in the Detroit, MI area for over five years
and was arrested at a Harbor Woods, MI Nursing Home where Lenear was
employed as a Dietician.
On November 11, 1999 a warrant was issued for Lonzo Lenear in Shelby
County, Tennessee charging Lenear with Rape of a Child. The warrant
was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service Mid South Fugitive Task
Force in fall 2006. In April 2007, Task Force Officer (TFO) Chris
Wages developed information that Lenear was living in the 14000
block of Rossini in Detroit, MI. TFO Wages coordinated with members
of the USMS DFAT in order to facilitate the arrest of Lenear.
The Mid-South Fugitive Task Force consists of Deputy U.S. Marshals,
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Memphis Police Officers. The
MSFTF began in August, 2005 and focuses on locating and apprehending
fugitives that are wanted for violent crimes and sex offenses.
