Arrest of Homicide
Suspect Carl Dean
The United States
Marshals Service has arrested a 20 year-old Newark man who was
wanted for murder and attempted murder.
Carl R. Dean, 20, previously of Lexington Green Apartments in
Newark, DE was wanted by New Castle County Police for the murder of
a 22 year-old man at the Taylor Town Shopping Center near Newark.
The homicide occurred on April 2, 2007. Dean was also wanted by
Wilmington Police for attempted murder of a 21 year-old man in the
City of Wilmington back on January 28, 2006.
Dean was arrested at the Schoolside Apartments on Basin Road, New
Castle, Delaware. Deputy Marshals conducted surveillance near unit
D-14 at approximately 8 am. Shortly after 12 noon, the defendant was
seen by the deputies. When officer went to the front door, the
defendant attempted to jump out the rear of the second floor window.
Dean saw police in the rear and then went to the front of the
apartments and jumped out the second floor window on to a ledge in
front of the apartment. The defendant then surrendered to the
officer in front of the apartment.
The defendant was turned over to detectives from the New Castle
County Police Department for further investigation.
