| Abstract: | (CIT): Science for All. What do Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, Kurt Cobain, Lorraine Bracco, Sylvia Plath, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Mike Wallace have in common? All suffered from depression, the condition that Winston Churchill called his "Black Dog." Some form of depressive illness is thought to affect up to 10% of the US population; why does depression go untreated despite advances in treatment and in public education? How is depression defined? How might signs of depression differ among individuals? What are the treatment options? This forum will focus on the science behind Depression and how/when it is diagnosed and treated.
