Lifetime Achievement Award

The National Head Start Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award was approved by the NHSA board of directors and implemented in October of 2003. It was established to recognize those individuals who have made an outstanding impact and lifelong contributions to the Head Start and early childhood community.

Award Criteria:

  • Currently retired or will retire within the current year.*
  • A minimum of 25 years Head Start employment.
  • Demonstrated, distinguished leadership qualities.
  • Outstanding impact and contributions to the Head Start and early childhood community on the local, state, and national levels .

* Awards may be presented posthumously.

Submission Process:
Any individual or program within Head Start may submit a nomination. The submission must include a one-page description of how the candidate meets each of the above criteria. Final selection of award winners will be made by the National Head Start Association. NHSA will respond to the submission within 30 days and provide an award to those selected within 60 days.
