The Microfilm Preservation Program
The New Delhi Office preserves in microformat a large number of
publications acquired by the
Library's overseas offices. The Microfilm Preservation
Program includes publications that are:
- published on poor quality paper that will not last long,
- issued in non-stable techniques such as mimeograph, xerox, etc.,
- so voluminous as to take an inordinate amount of shelf space and be difficult to use,
- of greater research value if organized as a collection and microformatted
together rather than treated as individual items.
