(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced today that the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has approved a grant of $500,000 and a $600,000 loan to the City of Kingston. The funding will be used to improve the water treatment plant, upgrade the wells, improve the water distribution system and build a new water storage facility in Kingston.
“Improving and maintaining the infrastructure of our rural communities is important,” said Graves. “This funding will make Kingston an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”
The USDA Rural Development program has invested over $72 billion since January 2001 to provide equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure. As a result, over 1.5 million jobs have been created or saved through these investments.
