(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced today that the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has approved a grant of $10,600 to the Village of Jameson. The funding will be used for the purchase and installation of an early warning siren system to alert the 120 village residents of severe weather and emergencies. Local sources will contribute $3,539 to complete the project.
“Responding quickly to severe weather is a part of life in Northwest Missouri,” said Graves. “This funding will give residents of Jameson an important warning when severe weather is headed their way.”
The USDA Rural Development program has invested over $72 billion since January 2001 to provide equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure. As a result, over 1.5 million jobs have been created or saved through these investments.
