(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced he has secured $341,000 in funding for teacher training at Central Methodist University in a bill that passed the House late Monday night. The funding will be for a science, technology, engineering, and math teacher training program.
“We need to train the next generation of scientists, engineers and mathematicians today so that we can compete on a global stage tomorrow,” said Graves. “This funding will help train those teachers and directly impact those student’s lives.”
The funding was requested by Graves and included in the Labor/Health and Human Services Appropriations bill earlier this year. However a final bill never made it to the President’s desk. Instead, funding was included in the Omnibus Appropriations Bill that passed the House on Monday night. That bill is expected to be passed in the Senate and sent to the President this week.
