WASHINGTON - Being a member of the minority party for the 110th Congress will not mean less work for Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers, who has been named to four different standing House committees.
Ehlers, R-Grand Rapids, received his final subcommittee assignments Tuesday, placing him on a total of four committees and six subcommittees. He will be the top-ranking Republican on one committee and one subcommittee. The following are Ehlers’ assignments:
· House Administration – Ranking Republican; (no subcommittees);
- Science & Technology – Subcommittees: Research & Science Education, Ranking Republican; Technology & Innovation;
- Education & Labor – Subcommittees: Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education; Higher Education, Lifelong Learning and Competitiveness;
- Transportation & Infrastructure – Subcommittees: Aviation; Water Resources & Environment.
The committees are the same four committees on which Ehlers served in the 109th Congress.
“I am pleased with my committee and subcommittee assignments,” said Ehlers, who is serving his seventh full term as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. “These positions dovetail well with some of my top priorities, such as improving math and science education, cleaning up the Great Lakes and ensuring our nation’s competitiveness in the world economy. I look forward to working with my Democrat and Republican colleagues throughout the 110th Congress on these and many other issues that face our country.” |
