Sara Evans to Release New, 'Stronger' Album

    Jon Kopaloff, FilmMagic.com

For those of you aching for your next Sara Evans fix, there is definitely relief on the horizon. The songstress's sixth studio album, 'Stronger,' will be released March 8.

Even though Sara had been rooting for a February release when we chatted with her at the 'Country Strong' premiere, the new date isn't that much further from the film's January 7 nationwide opening. "We're hoping for a Valentine's Day release," she said. "We are going to try to ride the coattails of this movie! [laughs]"

The project's first single 'A Little Bit Stronger,' which was written by Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott with songwriters Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey, can also be found on the 'Country Strong' soundtrack.

Tim McGraw to Headline New Missouri Music Fest

    Danny Clinch

Tim McGraw has been tapped to headline the inaugural Show-Me Music and Arts Festival, slated for June 17-19 in Springfield, Mo. The event will include more than 20 acts ranging from bluegrass to country to alternative. Love and Theft, Jessie James and Steve Holy have also been confirmed as performers.

Tim will undoubtedly be ready to play new songs by the time he hits the stage in Missouri. Hard at work on another album, the multi-platinum selling singer says he's more excited than ever about his future, both personally and professionally.

"The new album probably will be out some time in the spring," Tim tells The Boot. "For me, it's been a long career and I'm very fortunate to still be here, to still be doing it, to still be relevant. I still think there's a lot more ahead of me than behind me. I really think that I'm just starting to sort of grasp an idea of what I'm doing. I can get better ... I want to keep getting better in everything that I do. Life, for me, is school. Every time I go out, every time I try something new, I want to learn and experience and figure out how do it, and then I want to figure out how to get better at it."

Ty Herndon Will 'Journey On' to Combat ALS

    Aristo PR

Ty Herndon's song 'Journey On' has taken on new meaning for a good cause. The recent Grammy nominee has partnered with former NFL player Kevin Turner to raise awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, and its emerging connection to athletes who suffer from repeated head trauma.

'Journey On' has been named the signature song and video for the Kevin Turner Foundation and its ALS awareness campaign. Kevin, who was diagnosed with ALS in May 2010, was compelled to work with Ty after hearing the song at an ALS benefit concert.

"As an artist, you always dream of working on a project that makes a positive difference in the world," Herndon says. "However, I had no idea that working with Kevin Turner and his amazing family would make such a difference in myself and everyone involved in this very special project. Wow! It is my hope and prayer that this song and video will raise awareness about ALS to help The Kevin Turner Foundation reach its goal. And that goal is a cure."

Joe Nichols Says He's Out of 'Pure Country'

    Mark Humphrey, AP

Joe Nichols was the epitome of excitement when he found out he'd be hitting the Broadway stage. It was announced in early 2009 that the singer had signed on to star in the Broadway adaptation of 'Pure Country,' based on the 1992 movie starring George Strait.

The show was scheduled to open by the winter of 2010 in the Big Apple, but that, of course, has not happened and Joe acknowledges the show is pretty much in limbo. "I'm not sure when or if the show is going to continue," Joe tells The Boot. "As far as my part of the show. It's not looking likely at all.

"It's pretty positive that if the show were to continue, I probably won't be a part of it just for time sake," Joe continues. "We were able to commit to a pretty sizable amount of time at one time for the show, and when that timeline changed, of course, that made it immediately impossible for us to do the show. I'm not sure if the show will go on. My hope is that it will because it sounds like an incredible situation for somebody, and a good thing for country music. Hopefully they'll get it together and put on a show and, if so, I'm going to go up and watch it."

Carrie Underwood Relates to 'Other World' of 'Narnia'

Carrie Underwood's voice is heard as the closing credits roll during the highly-anticipated 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Trader.' The superstar, who penned the song, 'There's a Place for Us,' with hit tunesmiths Hillary Lindsey and David Hodges, calls the opportunity an unforgettable experience, and one she owes to her mother's former career.

"My mom used to read them in her classes when she was teaching. So I was definitely intrigued," Carrie explains to the Wall Street Journal. "The books were very entertaining. You could have a little imagination and still be able to read them and see pictures in your head. When I find books like that I always get very excited."

Thanks to her new role as a movie-soundtrack contributor, the recent bride got a sneak peek of the family-friendly movie before she hit the writing table. "I saw it in its very early stages," Carrie explains. "There was still a lot of green screen going on -- which is always fun. I enjoy seeing things when they're in the process of being put together. And after that, once I was on board because I really enjoyed the movie, it was all about trying to find people who would be a good fit to write with me on it. We then all saw the movie together. For the next four days after that, we went in to write. Just to see if we could come up with anything."

The Zac Brown Band are known for their pre-concert "eat-and-greets," where they treat about 200 lucky fans to pictures, autographs and a huge spread of down-home southern fare. But did you know that most everything on the buffet is an original Zac Brown recipe? The ZBB frontman is a an accomplished chef and even put out his own cookbook, 'Southern Ground.' (Win an autographed copy of the book here!)

Our friends at SlashFood interviewed Zac in his "kitchen on wheels." "We built this 53-foot tractor trailer that's a kitchen," he explains. "I had a restaurant in Georgia for a while, and I really missed feeding everybody."

    The Grascals
are going to make some kids' wishes come true when they release their new duets album 'The Grascals + Friends: Country Classics With a Bluegrass Spin,' on January 10.

That's because proceeds from the album will go to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital to help desperately ill pediatric patients. One original song on the collection, 'I Am Strong,' was inspired by patients' writings and includes the voices of some of the patients. The album is part of the exclusive music series by Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores.

"We feel really good about it," Terry Smith, upright bassist for the group tells The Boot of the new album. "We had a lot of fun making the album, too.
