| | | On a cool morning at Fort Ord if you're very lucky you could catch a glimpse of a badger, mountain lion, or golden eagle. More often you'll see black tailed deer, turkeys, bobcats, coyotes, gopher snakes, red tailed hawks, Canada geese, coast horned lizards, and California quail. Once acquainted with these animals, the regular visitor to Fort Ord can begin to learn the daily and seasonal patterns of their behaviors such as when they are most active or visible, how they care for their young, what they eat, and how they hunt for food. Always give these animals the space they need from you so that you can watch their natural behaviors without forcing them to react to or be frightened by you. |
