Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officers in NCID participate fully in a wide range of scientific and public health activities, including epidemiologic and laboratory studies, disease surveillance, public health policy development, and epidemic investigations in the United States and throughout the world. In addition, through professional publications and presentations, EIS Officers are actively involved in disseminating scientific and public health information.
The ASM/NCID Fellowship is cosponsored by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and NCID. The goal of the fellowship is to support the development of new approaches, methodologies and knowledge in infectious disease prevention and control in areas within the public health mission of the CDC. The fellowship allows one to perform research in residence at the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) which is headquartered at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA.
