2008 Idaho Conservation Security Program (CSP)
Idaho's
Little Lost Watershed Selected for 2008
Some of Idaho's best conservation stewards in a selected watershed will have the
opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work.
The Conservation Security Program (CSP) sign-up will occur from April 18 to May
16, 2008. This year's eligible watershed is the Little Lost.
CSP is a voluntary program rewarding those farmers and ranchers meeting the
highest conservation standards on their lands.
Farmers and ranchers in this year's watershed will want to gather their farm
records and application information now. Producers interested in
determining their eligibility should first review the "Basic Eligibility
Checklist" (below) and then the CSP Self-Assessment Workbook (link below).
A public meeting and workshop will be held in the Little Lost watershed to
help producers prepare.

Application Materials
Producers with the majority of their land inside the boundaries of the
selected watershed have met the first criteria for eligibility in CSP.
Producers must fill out a Self-Assessment to apply for the program. By
going through the CSP Self-Assessment Workbook, potential CSP participants will
get a good idea about whether they are eligible for CSP at this time.
Producers who may not be eligible can find out about programs that can help them
achieve a higher level at conservation so that they may apply for CSWP in the
future.
Conservation Security Program Self-Assessment and Workbooks
Producers need to provide records of their conservation work. Idaho has
developed a Conservation Records Book to assist with organizing records for the
program. The self-assessment workbook is required and the Idaho CSP record
book is a valuable tool to organize your farm and ranch records.

Enhancements and Certification Sheets
The following are listings of offered CSP enhancement activities that may be
selected along with the certification requirements. Please keep in mind
that these are offered nationally and may not be possible for you to complete in
your location. Care should be taken in the selection of these activities.
For example, before agreeing to the enhancement activity "Recycle 100 Percent of
Waste Lubricants" you may wish to find out where the closest approved
multi-lubricant recycling center is located. If may not be feasible to
haul your waste lubricants if your nearest location is several hundred miles
away.
A brief summary of the enhancements can be found here:
