Dr. Duke, ethnobotanist and author, presented a lecture about medicinal plants and herbals as part of an occasional noontime lecture series.
Speaker Biography: James Duke is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina where he received his Ph.D. in botany. He then moved on to postdoctoral activities at Washington University and the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, where he assumed professor and curator duties. He retired from the Department of Agriculture in 1995 after a 35-year career there. Currently he is senior scientific consultant to "Natures Herbs," a Twin Labs subsidiary and to an online company, allherb.com.
