Purpose
We used a mini-Phantom ROV and a towed camera sled (both owned by
Florida State University collaborator, Dr. Chris Koenig) to collect video data
in the Madison Swanson Reserve to use in conjunction with previously collected
sidescan and multibeam data for habitat characterization.
Information to be Derived

Summary
Video data were collected at thirteen sites within the Madison-Swanson
Reserve. One site was occupied using the ROV and twelve using the towed camera
sled, made by Chris Koenig. The sled was towed along the bottom at about 1 kt.
for about 3/4 mile at each site, with a forward-looking video camera running
continuously. Video quality was very good to excellent at all sites except one
(Site 13) where a focussing problem occurred. Original objectives included work
in the Steamboat Lumps Reserve, but weather conditions forced the work to be
stopped before we could go there. We will attempt to finish the work in
November 2003.

Navigation Techniques: hand-held GPS
