Purpose
Collect sediment cores at two long-term monitoring stations in
Massachusetts Bay near the outfall for Boston's treated sewage.
Information to be Derived
Samples and Chemical Analysis; Grain size analysis.
Summary
5 good cores were collected at station 3. One of these colleced for
Linda Kalnejais for her erosion experiment. Only two cores were collected at
station 2 because of a malfunction of the bottom closure mechanism. It did not
snap into place immediately after pullout, allowing the sand to fall out of the
core barrel.
Notes
Navigation Techniques: DGPS
