The Office of Child Support EnforcementGiving Hope and Support to America's Children

Dear Colleague DC-94-21

Fourth National Child Support Enforcement Training Workshop

DC-94-21

March 21, 1994

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

Dear Colleague:

In DC94-11 we alerted you to the Office of Child Support
Enforcement's upcoming Fourth National Child Support Enforcement
(CSE) Training Workshop. This letter provides additional information
about this important event. Our Third National Training Workshop,
held last September, featured separate tracks for trainers and
attorneys. The Fourth Workshop is a single track targeted
specifically to CSE staff, including attorneys, whose main
responsibilities are training related.

The intensive three-day Workshop will be held July 25-27 at the
Ramada Inn Old Town, 901 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, Virginia
22314, telephone (703) 683-6000.

The proposed agenda (copy enclosed for your information) reflects
input obtained in recent conference calls with State and Regional CSE
training liaisons. Emphasizing the needs and perspectives of
trainers, small group sessions will explore issues related to:

     183 interstate case processing, including the new Uniform
          Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) and use of the
          interstate forms package;

     183    enforcing against the self-employed;

     183 identifying assets and review and adjustment; and

     183 the paternity establishment and medical support provisions
          of OBRA '93.

A large group session will examine the integration of training in
systems, policy, and procedures.

The Workshop also will feature a number of small group sessions on
training tips and techniques, including:

     183    how to establish training units;

     183 effective use of training techniques; and

     183 presentation power, a discussion by Virginia Von Fremd of
          Professionally Speaking Associates covering tension and how
          to relieve it, energy, pitch, pace, and creating an
          awareness of strength.
