RE: New Hire Data Summary

Dear Colleague:

As you know, States began submitting New Hire information to the National Directory of New Hires (NDNH) on October 1, 1997. In a continuous effort to maintain the quality of child support data and to provide you with feedback, we have prepared a table about your State’s New Hire (NH) statistics for the October 1, 1997 through December 31, 1998 reporting period. In addition, a chart and supplementary table are included to compare the contribution of each Region and State to the overall national NH data for the same period. The attachments provide information regarding the volume of data submitted and the quality of the data received. Please review this information carefully.

Table 1 provides the following information about your State’s NH submissions:

Number of records submitted by your State from October 1, 1997 150 December 31, 1998;
Number of records posted (passed the SSA verification routines) to the NDNH;
Percent of records that were unverified (did not pass the SSA verification routines) as compared to the national average;
Rejection rate (percent of records that were not posted to the NDNH because of incomplete or incorrect data) as compared to the national average; and
Contribution your State made to the total number of New Hire records submitted by your Region.

Chart 1 shows the percentage of each region’s contribution as compared to cumulative NH submissions. Table 2 supplements Chart 1 and displays total NH submissions by State.
