RE: Federal Tax and Administrative Offset Collection Report for December 2000

Dear Colleague:

We are forwarding to you the eleventh Collections/Adjustment/Address and corresponding name change reports for the combined 2000 Federal Tax Refund and/or Administrative Offset Programs. Enclosed is the collection report representing federal tax refund and/or administrative offsets for the month of December 2000 less the tax refund offset fee of $8.10 per offset, and the administrative offset fee of $9.65 per offset, and any adjustments made during this period for the 1994 through 2000 processing years. The net collection total for December 2000 for 19,656 offsets is $18,396,730.27. The year-to-date (through January 8th) net collection total for 2000 from 1,421,520 offsets is $1,393,240,582.56. We are pleased to report that this represents another record breaking year for the Federal Offset program and is an increase of over $50 million from 1999. The Cycles included in this monthly collection file are 47 - 54. This is the final report for processing Year 2000.

The detailed collection reports are sent to states via Connect:Direct data transmission as soon as the collection report is run. Because the cover reports must be printed out and a letter signed, it is a few days before a copy of this Dear Colleague letter and corresponding reports are distributed.

NOTE: The reports that will be electronically transmitted will be the Dear Colleague, Statement of Service Fee, Net Check and Name Change. State IV-D Directors and Regional Program Managers will continue to receive a monthly Dear Colleague letter in the mail along with the OCSE Federal Offset Net Check Amount Report. State Tax Offset Contacts will receive this letter by email.
