TO: ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

RE: Processing Bankruptcies

Dear Colleague:

As discussed in our May conference calls, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) is changing the way we process bankruptcy notifications to ensure that OCSE, Financial Management Service (FMS) and State databases are synchronized. This new processing method also allows cases to be submitted for other enforcement remedies.

The procedures for processing bankruptcies are attached. These procedures will also be incorporated into the Federal Offset Program User Guide. If you have any questions, please contact our Bankruptcy Monitor, Alvee Harrison at 202-401-1425.

Sincerely,

David Gray Ross
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
