RE: Call for Proposals for Workshops for the OCSE 17th National Child Support Enforcement Training Conference

Dear Colleague:

I am pleased to announce that the 17th National Child Support Enforcement Training Conference is accepting workshop proposals. This year’s theme is Child Support University (CSU)! The conference is scheduled for September 10-12, 2007, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Although the National Child Support Enforcement Strategic Plan is always the focus of our program, we encourage a wide range of submissions. We are looking for creative and innovative ideas as well as interactive workshops.

The Strategic Plan strategies include:

Emphasize prevention and early intervention
Provide proactive case management
Simplify distribution of collections, and pay families promptly and first
Ensure health care coverage for children
Eliminate barriers associated with multi-state cases
Use specific collaboration protocols with other agencies
Use time-sensitive, specific customer service protocols for TANF clients
Customize approach to customer service
Develop effective locate, service of process, and establishment tools
Expand and improve enforcement/collection tools

We will also hold workshops and plenary sessions covering the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, centralized locate and enforcement remedies, automation opportunities, best practices, healthy marriage initiatives, fatherhood programs, and collaboration among partners.

For the first time ever, we are offering “how to” clinics that cover skill building for caseworkers and supervisors, training for trainers and subject matter experts, and training for top management. For this, we are looking for a wide range of topics such as:

Working with courts, legislators, the media, and elected officials
Educating our customers, partners and staff about the Child Support program
Team building and motivation
Presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills
Leadership and leading change
Essentials of supervision
Surviving an audit with quality data
Interstate, interjurisdicational problem-solving
Writing that gets results
Grant management techniques
Understanding the incentive structure

Be creative with your workshop titles and proposals! They should reflect the CSU theme.

Proposals should be submitted no later than March 2, 2007. Please see the attachments for other details you will need to complete your proposal. The Strategic Plan may be found at http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse.
