SUBJECT: A QUICK GUIDE TO WORKING WITH THE MILITARY AS AN EMPLOYER

BACKGROUND: OCSE and the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) have collaborated on producing A Quick Guide to Working with the Military as an Employer as part of our ongoing efforts to improve the exchange of information between DoD and state and local Child Support Enforcement agencies. This publication is one chapter in OCSE’s Working with Federal Agencies as Employers, which is currently being updated.

ISSUES: A Quick Guide to Working with the Military as an Employer covers several child support issues including:

  • Locate services and employment verification,
  • Income-withholding orders,
  • Medical support orders, and
  • Payments.

WEB SITE: A Quick Guide to Working with the Military as an Employer, which is attached as a resource aid for child support caseworkers, will also be posted on the OCSE website at /programs/cse.

INQUIRIES:For any questions or concerns regarding how to use DoD data, please contact your State Technical Support Liaison, or Christine Jennings at (703) 345-8099 or cjennings@acf.hhs.gov.
