Functional Description |
Parents who are working or in school can apply for help to pay for child care by contacting the County Department of Job & Family Services(CDJFS). The parent is responsible for choosing a licensed child care center, school latchkey program, head start, home provider (relative or non-relative) or in-home aide that is certified by the CDJFS. Most parents will still be required to pay for part of the child care expense, called a fee or co-payment. The amount paid is based on income, family size, and the number of children in child care. Parents are eligible for the Child Care program if they are receiving cash from Ohio Works First (OWF) (the State TANF program), if they are no longer receiving OWF cash assistance, or if they never received OWF but their income is low.The system processes about 3,200 new and renewal licenses per year and tracks outcomes for over 100,000 inspections per year. Licensing workers enter day care licensing information on laptop or desktop PCs. Information entered on the PC is uploaded to the mainframe database. |
Interfaces |
The Child Day Care Licensing system interfaces with inspection PCs in the district offices to upload provider information via the State?s wide area network.External interfaces are via tape, except for the Government Direct Connect. These interfaces are part of the Data Exchange and have been tested. The interface tracking system contains additional data on the interfaces. |
