RE: Multistate Financial Institution Data Match (MSFIDM) Lien/Levy Workshop

Dear Colleague:

Each calendar quarter, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) processes and distributes to the States over 1.2 million matched accounts managed by nearly 4,000 multistate financial institutions. By June 2001, nearly all States and territories will be issuing freeze and seize actions on the accounts identified in the multistate match.

In response to many requests by States and our Financial Institution partners, OCSE is planning to facilitate a Multistate Financial Institution workshop on February 22 and 23 in Washington, DC. The session will provide your technical and policy staff with the opportunity to discuss best practices in processing MSFIDM data, freeze/seize actions, providing due process to non-custodial parents when seizing accounts in other states, anticipating customer service demands and tracking performance. Your staff will also be able to meet with multistate financial institution representatives to discuss liability, data reliability and lien/levy issues. Discussions may also lead to recommendations for MSFIDM program improvements, including suggested changes to existing operations and law. A draft agenda is attached.

The MSFIDM workshop will be held at the Grand Hyatt Washington located in Washington, DC. Please send your MSFIDM policy and technical staff. OCSE will pay for one night of lodging for two people or two nights lodging for one person from each state. Please have your State workshop attendee(s) return the attached registration form no later than February 8, 2001.
