The Office of Child Support EnforcementGiving Hope and Support to America's Children

DCL-99-103                 SEP 9, 1999

TO:    ALL IV-D DIRECTORS

RE:    CSENet Workstation

Dear Colleague:

With the recent upgrade of the Child Support Enforcement Network many of you have asked about disposal of the surplus CSENet Workstation in your State.

Rules cited at 45 CFR 74.34(g) specify requirements for disposing of and reimbursing the Federal government for equipment no longer needed. However, these rules only pertain to equipment with a current fair market value of at least $5,000.00. Since the CSENet workstations are PCs, which are now 8-10 years old, their estimated fair market value is less than $100. As such, they are considered expendable and disposable and no further action need be taken. You do not need to return your state's workstations. Please use your usual State procedure for equipment disposal.

If you have any questions, please call Helen Smith at (202) 690-6639.

Sincerely,

David Gray Ross
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
