Google Maps (GM)

You do not need to have anything special to use Google Maps.
In InfoBank, when available, Google Maps (GM) links appear after the "Virtual Globes:".
In InfoBank, both Google Maps and Google Earth use the same .kml and .kmz files.
Both Google Maps and Google Earth were designed for different capabilities, purposes, and audiences; and the ability of Google Maps to utilize .kml and .kmz files is a recent addition. As a result, not all .kml or .kmz files function as expected within Google Maps.
