Historical Programs
Wetlands Research Program (WRP)
Introduced in 1982, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers WRP was designed to advance the state of the art of wetlands science, engineering, and technology. Emphasis was placed on updating and adapting existing technologies and providing state-of-the-knowledge guidance to address field-level problems. Results of the program supported the Corps' regulatory community, but also had broad application to aspects of wetlands management and stewardship. This program resulted in numerous wetlands teaching tools and publications, before being incorporated into the WRTC.
Wetlands Regulatory Assistance Program (WRAP)
Initiated in the 1980’s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers WRAP provided direct scientific and engineering technical support to the Corps' Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Regulatory business practice. The program operated as a technology transfer activity that supported diverse field needs for years and directly benefited O&M projects. WRAP integrated these technologies with skilled personnel resultant from these programs to directly support the CE Regulatory Program.
Characterization and Restoration of Wetlands Research Program (CRWRP)
The knowledge and technology base for accomplishing these activities is broad, and is rooted in past and present efforts conducted under the historic and continuing Wetlands Research Programs (1970s, 1980s, and 1990s), continuing through the Characterization and Restoration of Wetlands Research Program (CRWRP).
