ATTACHMENT: Attached is an interim final rule, published in the Federal Register on December 28, 2004 (69 FR 77659), which revises existing regulations on review and adjustment of child support orders.

TO: State Agencies Administrating Child Support Enforcement Plans under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act and Other Interested Parties

SUBJECT: Interim Final Rule with Comment Period: Reasonable Quantitative Standards for Review and Adjustment of Child Support Orders

PURPOSE: The interim final rule revises existing regulations on review and adjustment of child support orders to reinstate a rule which was in place since 1993. The change permits States to once again use reasonable quantitative standards in adjusting an existing child support award amount after conducting a review of the order, regardless of the method of review used.

EFFECTIVE DATE: These regulations were effective on December 28, 2004. Consideration will be given to comments received by February 28, 2005.
